Final Note: Preference Management and Consent

Preference Management

It is a best practice to allow individuals to manage their preferences and to prevent their data being shared where they have a choice. Preference management allows people to alter digital settings, so that they are able to clearly indicate that they agree to certain uses or disclosures of their data.

Building individuals’ awareness and confidence in preference management tools is likely to make them more informed and better placed to engage with messages about what is happening to their information and how to manage it.
